Moffitt First Connect, located in Ocala, Florida opening on September 14, 2026, will provide patients with rapid access to specialized cancer care. Led by advanced practice professionals (APPs), Moffitt First Connect at Ocala will offer timely evaluations and coordinated access to expert oncology care and diagnostics for patients navigating a new cancer diagnosis, ongoing cancer treatment, or a concern with a high suspicion of cancer.

Moffitt First Connect Ocala will see patients within three business days to rapidly establish care at Moffitt Cancer Center for patients with suspected or diagnosed cancers listed below.

Cancer types seen at the Moffitt First Connect at Ocala office:

  • Breast cancer
  • Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers
  • Genitourinary (GU) cancers
  • Thoracic (lung) cancers

Who is the Moffitt First Connect appointment for?

This flexible appointment is designed to serve new patients at many different stages in their cancer journey. The appointment will vary slightly to meet each patient

  • Patients with newly diagnosed cancer

    During your First Connect Appointment the APP care team will:

    • answer your questions
    • perform an initial workup 
    • begin medical records collection process
    • identify any missing tests or imaging and potentially order them
    • make suggestions or prescribe medications for symptom management
    • match you with the specific specialist within Moffitt you need for a treatment plan
    • outline potential treatment pathways and help you prepare questions for your next visit
    • explain Moffitt's care models and how we care for patients with the best outcomes in mind 
    • discuss next steps with you and your caregiver

    The goal of the visit is to match you with the expert team at Moffitt who specializes in your specific diagnosis. The Ocala team will complete the internal referral process and schedule your next appointment at the main campus or a convenient clinic location to get a treatment plan. 

    Your status as an established patient after this visit makes that process as expedited as possible and you'll now have access any of the support services offered by Moffitt including:

    • Acute Cancer Care - For any urgent and emergency care related to your cancer
    • Patient & Family Orientation
    • Specialty care clinics like Senior Adult (70+) Adolescent and Young Adults (15-39)
    • Counseling and Support Services  
  • Patients with a suspicion of cancer

    If you have a mass or nodule seen on imaging in your lung, GI or urinary system, or a lump in your breast - or have a test result that is indicating cancer but do not yet have a diagnosis, you can request a First Connect at Ocala appointment. 

    During your First Connect Appointment the APP care team will:

    • perform an initial workup including a physical exam and medical history
    • review or collect prior test results or imaging
    • order any needed testing or imaging at the appropriate Moffitt campus
    • make suggestions or prescribe medications for symptom management
    • answer your questions
    • discuss next steps with you and your caregiver

    The goal of the visit is to leave the appointment with a clear next step in getting you a diagnosis. That may include a next appointment at a Moffitt location, or direction to an appropriate specialist. 

  • Patients currently in treatment looking to transfer care to Moffitt

    During your First Connect Appointment the APP care team will:

    • answer your questions
    • perform an initial workup including a physical exam and medical history
    • begin medical records collection process
    • discuss prior treatment regimens and outcomes
    • make suggestions or prescribe medications for symptom management
    • match you with the specific specialist within Moffitt you need to see next
    • explain Moffitt's care models and how we care for patients with the best outcomes in mind 
    • discuss next steps with you and your caregiver

    The goal of the visit is to match you with the expert team at Moffitt who specializes in your specific diagnosis. The Ocala team will help schedule your next appointment at the main campus or a convenient clinic location.

    If you are having a confirmed recurrance or are concerned that you might be experiencing a recurrence, you can request a First Connect at Ocala appointment to get established at Moffitt within 3 business days.

    During your First Connect Appointment the APP care team will:

    • answer your questions
    • perform an initial workup including a physical exam and medical history
    • begin medical records collection process
    • discuss prior treatment regimens and outcomes
    • make suggestions or prescribe medications for symptom management
    • match you with the specific specialist within Moffitt you need to see next

    If you already have a treatment plan and want a second opinion before starting treatment, this appointment can expedite your access into Moffitt. 

    During your First Connect Appointment the APP care team will:

    • answer your questions
    • perform an initial workup including a physical exam and medical history
    • begin medical records collection process
    • discuss prior treatment regimens and outcomes
    • make suggestions or prescribe medications for symptom management
    • match you with the specific specialist within Moffitt you need to see next
    • explain Moffitt's care models and how we care for patients with the best outcomes in mind 
    • discuss next steps with you and your caregiver

    The goal of the visit is to match you with the expert team at Moffitt who specializes in your specific diagnosis. The Ocala team will help schedule your next appointment for a second opinion. 

    You are not required to have a First Connect appointment in order to get a second opinion. If you only want one appointment for a second opinion, you can ask for a new patient second opinion appointment at another Moffitt campus.


The location will focus on evaluating new patients and coordinating transitions to Moffitt's highly-specialized clinical programs for next steps in specialty oncology consults, treatment, or diagnostic testing.

Services Available at Moffitt First Connect Ocala

A team of oncology-specific Advanced Practice Professionals will serve as the first point of contact for patients seeking evaluation for suspected or diagnosed cancer, providing comprehensive care coordination to help ensure patients receive rapid access to Moffitt's specialized oncology services.

During this initial appointment to establish care at Moffitt, the Ocala care team will:

  • Review your medical history and conduct an initial clinical assessment.
  • Collect and evaluate medical records, including pathology reports, laboratory results and imaging studies.
  • Coordinate any additional testing or evaluations needed before your oncology consultation.
  • Help match you with the appropriate cancer specialists based on your diagnosis and care needs.
  • Answer your questions
  • Discuss Moffitt care models and support services that lead to the best cancer outcomes

Our team is dedicated to making the process as seamless as possible by coordinating your transition to the appropriate disease-specific oncology team. Most patients will be referred internally to specialists at Moffitt at Speros Outpatient Center or Moffitt at Wesley Chapel, with referrals to other Moffitt locations when appropriate.
