Moffitt Cancer Center's Suspicion of Cancer Program welcomes referrals for patients with a suspected malignancy. Our program provides a streamlined process for evaluation and diagnosis, ensuring patients receive timely, coordinated care. If cancer is detected, our team connects patients with top cancer specialists within our renowned multispecialty programs.
The Suspicion of Cancer Program expedites the evaluation for patients with abnormal laboratory tests or imaging results, allowing them to start treatment faster, resulting in improved outcomes.
Refer your patients to the Suspicion of Cancer Program
Consider referring your patients with:
- Lymphadenopathy
- Pancytopenia
- Abnormal blood counts with family history of cancer
- Abnormal bone marrow findings on imaging
- Elevated tumor marker(s)
- Imaging test (CT, MRI, ultrasound or X-ray) suggesting a possible malignancy
For these other highly suspicious findings, your patients will be directed to the clinic:
- Liver lesions (GI Oncology Program)
- Lung nodules (Lung Nodule Clinic)
- Elevated PSA (GU Oncology Program)
- Breast mass with BI-RADS 4 or higher (Breast Program)
- Bone lesions (Sarcoma Program)
- Lumps or bumps larger than a golf ball (Sarcoma Program)
Our Team Approach to Undiagnosed Cancer
The Suspicion of Cancer Program offers an effective and timely approach to diagnosing cancer. Our specialists will:
- Review your patient's medical history, imaging results and lab records
- Determine whether a biopsy is necessary and, if so, arrange the test promptly
- Determine additional testing or blood work required
- Consult with specialists in our Diagnostic Imaging and Intervention Radiology Program
- Connect your patient with appropriate specialists to plan their treatment if needed
