As a high-volume cancer center, Moffitt is led by specialists who possess an unrivaled level of experience addressing even the most complex and uncommon malignancies – experience that can make all the difference when it comes to achieving a positive outcome and enhanced quality of life.
Moffitt’s multispecialty approach to GI cancer treatment
Moffitt takes a unique, multispecialty approach to GI cancer treatment to attack malignancies from multiple angles. Led by Jason Fleming, MD, our Gastrointestinal Oncology Program includes:
- Gastroenterologists
- Medical oncologists
- Radiation oncologists
- Surgeons
- Pathologists
- Interventional radiologists
These gastrointestinal oncology specialists focus exclusively on GI cancers and collaborate as a team to develop an individualized treatment plan for each and every patient we serve. Depending on factors unique to the patient, a treatment plan may include robotic-assisted surgery, molecular therapies and immunotherapies, novel chemotherapy drugs, interventional radiology and other methods.
Additionally, Moffitt spearheads a trailblazing clinical trials program that allows our patients to receive emerging new therapies before those options are made widely available. Our commitment to facilitating clinical breakthroughs has earned us recognition from the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, and we are the only such center based in Florida.
