A George Edgecomb Society Initiative

George Edgecomb was Hillsborough County's first Black/African American county judge and a good friend of H. Lee Moffitt, founder of Moffitt Cancer Center. At just 33 years old, he died of leukemia in 1977. The George Edgecomb Society at Moffitt Cancer Center honors Judge Edgecomb's life and impact by seeking to address the systemic causes that lead to health disparities in marginalized communities. 

Introducing Health Equity Partners

Moffitt Cancer Center has launched a new corporate membership program called the Moffitt Health Equity Partners, which will provide corporations with a powerful new way to contribute to the vision of health equity for all people within our diverse Tampa Bay communities.

Funds raised through the Moffitt Health Equity Partners program each year will support the following activities:

• Research Programs
• Education in the Community
• Diversifying our Faculty
• Regular Screenings
• Transportation Initiatives 

Moffitt Cancer Center is committed to providing annual stewardship reports to each Health Equity Partners organization, outlining progress made in specific programs supported by your funds or providing a broader look at all programs supported by your gift and the gifts of others. In the area of research, these reports will provide an update on the progress of funded projects, including detail on the vision, planning, execution and next steps, depending on the stage of research. In the area of community outreach, the Moffitt Foundation will provide details on the types of activities your support allowed us to conduct in underserved communities, as well as number of individuals reached, number of activities and follow-up actions where appropriate, such as providing vouchers for follow-up screenings.
