A full spectrum of breast cancer treatment and supportive care is available to women from West Palm Beach, Florida, at Moffitt Cancer Center. Located in Tampa, Moffitt is an undisputed leader in the treatment of malignant breast diseases. Patients in our Don & Erika Wallace Comprehensive Breast Program have access to multiple specialists under one roof – our team includes fellowship-trained surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists and other experts who focus exclusively on breast cancer. And, because Moffitt is a high-volume cancer center, our physicians have a unique level of experience treating even the uncommon and complex conditions.
Breast cancer treatment at Moffitt is tailored to the individual needs of every woman – or man. While less than 1 percent of breast cancer cases affect men, Moffitt provides specialized care to men with this condition. Each patient’s ideal course of treatment is collaboratively developed by Moffitt’s tumor board based on the extent and cellular makeup of the patient’s cancer, along with his or her age, overall health and several other factors.
A breast cancer treatment plan may include an individualized combination of:
- Surgery to remove cancerous growths, surrounding tissues, affected lymph nodes or the entirety of the breast.
- Traditional treatment methods such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy to shrink tumors and destroy cancer cells that have traveled to other areas of the body.
- Advanced treatment methods such as hormone therapy, which blocks the production of cancer-promoting progesterone and estrogen, and targeted therapy, which addresses cancer cells in patients with certain genetic makeups.
